Many of us Jerseyans have heard of haunted and eerie landmarks such as The Devil’s Tower, Demon’s Alley, The Dempsey House, and many others. But have you ever been to the infamous Jolly Jack House?

The Jolly Jack House is an old abandoned house located in the middle of the woods near Clinton Road. The story begins on Halloween of 1956 when a man named Jack was enjoying Halloween festivities with his family at their home, until Jack went rogue. He grabbed a carving knife off the kitchen table and attacked his wife and 3 children with it, carving out their eyes, noses, and mouths like Jack-o’-lanterns. He buried the bodies in the dirt floor of the basement and proceeded to hang himself in the kitchen after. The blood-curdling screams of the family can still be heard today. Legend has it that if 2 people enter the house and stand by the basement stairs, they will not be able to move and will receive Jack’s visions, which will drive them to madness and temptation to kill.
