Archived police investigation at Harvey C. Loyd’s home on October 18, 1996. Police were examining objects Loyd had in his possession at the time that would raise questions.

A fixed blade hunting knife with deer antler handle was found on Loyd’s dresser. Upon further inspection, the knife’s handle was stained with blood thoroughly. The edge of the blade as well as the cheek both had traces of dirt, blood, and hair.

The clothes Loyd wore on the evening of October 16th were found. A light blue button-down was stained with dirt and blood and had 4 of the buttons missing, as well as various rips and tears. A pair of dark blue Levi’s 501 jeans had dirt on the knees and the zipper had been broken off. A pair of white Fruit of the Loom briefs had lipstick marks around the hip and groin areas. The suede hiking boots Loyd wore were weathered in dirt and stained with river water and blood.

A photo of Andrew P. Cohen in a sterling silver frame was found on Loyd’s bedside table. To note, the glass was cracked directly on Andrew’s face. Other objects found on the bedside table included a plastic rosary, a lighter featuring a nude blonde woman (who beared resemblance to Andrew), a prescribed pill bottle of Prozac (which was half-empty upon inspection), a piece of paper with Andrew’s phone number written on it, a #2 pencil with chew marks, and a tooth, presumably from a small animal’s skeleton.

A 1965 Mossberg 500 was discovered in Loyd’s closet and contained 2 shotgun shells remaining inside. Upon even deeper inspection, a shoebox with VHS tapes was found on the top shelf of Loyd’s closet. Labels on the tapes included “ANDI SHOTGUN” and “THE TREE”. When questioned what these tapes contained, Loyd was unresponsive. A cassette mixtape was found in the shoebox as well.

Small plastic bags with MDMA and cocaine were found in the pockets of Loyd’s jeans he had worn on the evening of October 16th, as well as an unused heroin needle.
